Geology and Natural Features
- The canyon was formed by the erosive power of the Abasha River cutting through limestone rocks. It is approximately 2,400 meters long, 5–7 meters wide, and 50–70 meters deep.
- It features beautiful waterfalls (12–15 meters high), natural limestone bridges, and crystal-clear emerald-green water that stays cold year-round.
- The area is rich in paleontological importance, with dinosaur footprints and fossils from the Late Cretaceous period discovered here.
Activities and Attractions
- Enjoy a scenic boat trip along a 300-meter stretch of the river inside the canyon — one of the most popular experiences.
- Walk along the stone-paved tourist trail with viewing platforms offering panoramic views of the gorge and waterfalls.
- Visit the historic Dadiani Trail with ancient stone stairs and the remains of an old water mill used by the Dadiani noble family.
- The canyon is also famous for “Dadiani’s Bath,” a particularly beautiful section of the river.
Flora and Fauna
- The surrounding forests are part of the Colchic ecosystem, featuring chestnut, beech, hornbeam, and various evergreen trees.
- The river is home to trout and other fish, while the area supports amphibians, reptiles, birds of prey, and several bat species.

- Wear comfortable non-slip shoes. The boat ride and trails can be wet.
- The water is very cold even in summer — swimming is not recommended.
- Combine your visit with nearby Balda Canyon for a full adventurous day.

- التذاكر مطلوبة ويفضل شراؤها إلكترونياً أو من مركز الزوار.
- ارتدِ أحذية مريحة غير زلقة، حيث قد تكون الممرات مبللة.
- المياه باردة جداً طوال العام — لا يُنصح بالسباحة.
- يمكن دمج الزيارة مع وادي بالدا لقضاء يوم ممتع.
- أفضل وقت للزيارة: الربيع وأوائل الخريف.
