Mount Shkhara Climbing
Location & Overview
- Location: Mestia Municipality, Upper Svaneti, on the Georgia–Russia border
- Highlights: Georgia’s highest peak at approximately 5,193 m, and the third-highest summit in the Caucasus after Elbrus and Dykh-Tau. Also known as “Tskhrataviani” (nine-headed) in Georgian, referring to its nine distinct peaks along the ridge.
How to Get There
- Reachable via Mestia, then Ushguli village (around 55 km from Mestia), followed by an off-road vehicle approach to the base of the route.
Good to Know
- Best climbing season is mid-July to end of September.
- One of the most difficult and technical summits in Georgia and Europe, with all routes rated 5A or higher. Reserved for experienced climbers with a certified guide — not suitable for beginners.

- أبرز المعالم: أعلى قمة في جورجيا بارتفاع نحو 5,193 متراً، وثالث أعلى قمة في القوقاز بعد إلبروس وديخ-تاو. يُعرف أيضاً باسم “تسخراتافياني” (تسعة رؤوس) بالجورجية، في إشارة إلى قممه التسع المتصلة على طول الحافة.
كيفية الوصول
- يمكن الوصول عبر ميستيا، ثم قرية أوشغولي (على بعد حوالي 55 كم من ميستيا)، تليها رحلة بسيارة دفع رباعي إلى بداية المسار.
معلومات مهمة
- أفضل موسم للتسلق من منتصف يوليو إلى نهاية سبتمبر.
- من أصعب القمم تقنياً في جورجيا وأوروبا، حيث تُصنّف جميع مساراتها بدرجة 5A أو أعلى. مخصص للمتسلقين ذوي الخبرة مع مرشد معتمد — غير مناسب للمبتدئين.
