How to Get There
- Tusheti is reached via the Abano Pass, a 70 km unpaved mountain road starting from Pshaveli in Kakheti and requiring a 4×4 vehicle.
- Drive time from Kvemo Alvani to Omalo is approximately 4 hours; total drive time from Tbilisi is around 5.5–6 hours.
- The road is seasonal, typically open from early June to mid-September, and closed the rest of the year due to snow.
Good to Know
- The Abano Pass is one of the highest and most demanding mountain roads in Georgia, with narrow unpaved sections and no guardrails — an experienced local driver is strongly recommended over self-driving.
- Phone signal is unreliable or absent for long stretches of the pass; download offline maps in advance and inform your accommodation of your travel plans.
- Weather can change quickly at altitude; carry warm layers even in summer, as nights stay cold year-round.
- Outside the open season (roughly June–September), the region is inaccessible by road.

كيفية الوصول

- تستغرق الرحلة من كفيمو ألفاني إلى أومالو حوالي 4 ساعات، بينما تستغرق الرحلة الكاملة من تبليسي حوالي 5.5 إلى 6 ساعات.
- الطريق موسمي، ويفتح عادة من أوائل يونيو حتى منتصف سبتمبر، ويُغلق بقية العام بسبب الثلوج.

- يُعد ممر أبانو من أكثر الطرق الجبلية ارتفاعًا وصعوبة في جورجيا، بأقسام ضيقة وغير معبّدة وبلا حواجز حماية — يُنصح بشدة بالاعتماد على سائق محلي متمرس بدلًا من القيادة الذاتية.
- تغطية الهاتف ضعيفة أو منعدمة على مسافات طويلة من الممر؛ يُفضل تحميل خرائط تعمل دون اتصال بالإنترنت مسبقًا وإبلاغ مكان إقامتك بخطة رحلتك.
- يمكن أن يتغير الطقس بسرعة على هذا الارتفاع؛ يُنصح بحمل ملابس دافئة حتى في الصيف، إذ تبقى الليالي باردة على مدار السنة.
- خارج موسم الفتح (تقريبًا من يونيو إلى سبتمبر)، تصبح المنطقة غير قابلة للوصول عبر الطريق البري.
